Looking Hopeful

It's tough to be positive with a team that is 3-14 but I am feeling a bit of excitement for the Hornets. Not only did we lose two key players in Chris Paul and David West but Eric Gordon has only played in two games this season. With this said, the Hornets have fought particularly hard in the last three games and have lost those games by two points each. Now I know that sounds as if we should be terribly angry with the Hornets but they have seemed to make a slight turn around since the start of the season. One of the most frustrating aspects of the Hornet's early losses was their continual fourth quarter collapses. However, that has not been the case in the Hornet's three game two point losing streak. They have seemed to overcome their fourth quarter chaos. They have fought hard to the end and haven't given up. I can't imagine the two point losing streak to continue for the Hornet's. Something eventually has to give. Either the Hornet's will win a game or they will lose by more than two points. Whatever the outcome, I will be there to cheer them on!

Hornets Struggling to Keep Afloat

The New Orleans Hornets lost their sixth straight game Saturday night to the Dallas Mavericks losing 96-81.  There were nine lead changes and five ties in the first 7 1/2 minutes of the game before Lamar Odom tipped in his own missed layup to break a 16-all tie. The Mavericks would lead the rest of the way. The Hornets have struggled to get their team in a winning position since the trade of Chris Paul. The Hornets have been plagued with injuries and without starting shooting guard Eric Gordon and starting small forward Trevor Ariza, the Hornets have found it difficult to close out and win games. In the past two games the Hornets have committed 38 turnovers with 21 of those being in last Saturday night's game against the Mavericks. It has not been easy for the Hornets to adjust to their new roles and it will be up to coach Monty Williams to tweek the team in order to give them an opportunity for success. Other teams who have been in similar situations have been able to overcome not having an all star player and moved into a more positive direction. The question is whether or not the Hornets will be able to do the same. Hoepefully, they will move pass this bump in the road and will eventually come out shining. Only time will tell. Unfortunately, because of the short season, time is not something the Hornets have a lot of.

Injuries Don't Help Hornets

The Hornet's guard Eric Gordon will be out for the next two - three weeks because of a bruised knee. Gordon who had already missed four games because of the same knee injury before returning in Wednesday night's loss to the 76er's experienced swelling after the 76er's game and will be out for the next few weeks. This isn't great news for a Hornets team that has been struggling to close out games and who are on a four game losing streak. Coach Monty Williams hopes to help his young team break that streak by simplifying things and by helping them mesh together.  Williams says that he is building the team the way that he wants to and that hopefully in the future this young team will jell and be successful. That would be a great thing to all of the Hornets fans who are anxious to put the Chris Paul trade behind them  and to move on with a bigger and better Hornets team. The future of the Hornets looks bright but getting there looks to be a long arduous journey.
